Frequently asked questions.

Why do I have to pay to see cats?

Your admission into the cat lounge space to play with our furry friends is used to make sure they are well fed, well taken care of, and have this amazing space to play in!

Can I get a refund?

We cannot do that, I’m afraid. Your fee goes to the care of the cats. That means food, wet food, litter, and medical care. Our cats count on your visit. If you would like, we can reschedule. Please call (585) 434-4104 during business hours or email us at pawsitivecafe@gmail.com.

Is there a restriction on age?

We do not restrict how old you have to be to enter the cat lounge. However, if you attend with young children, we ask that you please keep an eye on them and not let them chase the cats or attempt to climb on cat furniture as they could injure themselves and our cats. Please also go over the rules with your little ones so they can have the best experience with your cats. We will also help educate them on being gentle and patient with the cats to ensure you get the best experience. We also ask for parents or guardians to book an appointment as well; 16 years of age is the youngest we will allow to come in on their own.

Why are all the cats asleep? When is a good time to come in and get the best experience?

Cats do sleep frequently. About 13-16 hours a day to be exact, that’s twice our daily sleep time! They especially are sleepy after a vigorous play session. We recommend our morning times on weekends, when we first open on weekdays, or in the evenings. Cats are crepuscular (fancy word for being most active during dusk and dawn), so definitely hitting those early or evening hours are best.

Can I Bring My Cat?

Unfortunately, no. While we would love to meet your cats, we are an adoption center, and our cats will likely not react well to a stranger cat entering their territory. We want to keep our cats safe and your cats safe as well. We would love to see lots of pictures of your kitties, though!

Do we board cats?

We do not have the ability to board cats here. We always recommend reaching out to a pet sitter because most cats are more comfortable with staying home. A change of scenery can stress them out. Please reach out to our email at pawsitivecafe@gmail.com and we can send you a list of pet sitters we know about.

I found a homeless cat; can I bring it to you? I have a cat that needs rehoming, can I bring it to you?

No, as we are not equipped to take in any cats on behalf of our adoption groups. You can email us at pawsitivecafe@gmail.com and we can pass along to our many rescues.

Parking in Downtown Rochester is rough. Where should I park?

There is some street parking available along East Avenue. The 15 minute parking upfront is a safe place to park if available. Please do not park in the no parking zones because you will most likely get a ticket. However, Our building is conveniently located next to the East End Garage with accessible entrances from Swan Street, Scio Street, and East Main Street. The garage charges a rate of $2 per hour. Please check Eastman Theater events because they do charge event parking in the evenings if they have an event going on.
