Rules of the Cat Lounge Space

1. BE PAWSITIVELY CLEAN

Please wash your hands and/or use hand sanitizer before and after visiting the cat lounge and touching the cats.

2. BE PAWSITIVELY CALM

Please don't chase or run after the cats. If they walk away after you pet them, they are done being pet.

3. RESPECT THE WISHES OF OUR CATS

Most cats don't like to be picked up unless they know you. They also get very over stimulated when picked up and cuddled. We ask for all cats to be kept on the ground. A happy cat is a friendly cat. We encourage playing to bond with our cats.

4. BE PAWSITIVELY QUIET

Please use quiet voices, no yelling or squealing. Cats are sensitive to loud noises and will avoid you if you make a lot of noise.

5. BE PAWSITIVELY SLOW

No running or jumping. Cats get anxious and fearful of sudden movements and they will avoid you. Walking slowly and quietly is our cats favorite way to approach them.

6. DO NOT WAKE A SLEEPING KITTY

Cats sleep 12-16 hours a day, so many of them may be taking a nap while you visit. Please don't pick up or wake any of the sleeping kitties. But you may give them loving pets for happy kitty dreams. They are living, sentient creatures and we cannot control when they sleep or are active.

We sometimes have cats that are a little more unpredictable. They can cuddle with you and then give you a little swipe without warning. Our staff may point out these sassy cats so you can know who they are. Those who don't have a lot of experience with cats might want to play with some of the other kitties.

7. BE PAWSITIVELY OBSERVANT

8. PICS AND VIDEOS ALLOWED

You can take as many pictures as you want. Please, no flash. Feel Free to tag your visit on social media accounts, we’re @pawsitivecaferoc on Facebook and Instagram.

9. DO NOT FEED THE CATS NO MATTER WHAT THEY TELL YOU

Please do not feed the cats anything that has not been given to you by a staff member. Also please do not leave your food unattended. They are mischievous. If they beg for food, please do not offer anything, no matter what they tell you.

10. WATCH OVER YOUR KITTENS LIKE A CAT

We do not limit the age of our guests but we ask you to PLEASE watch over your children as we need to watch out for the safety of our guests as well as our cats. Please understand if they are not being courteous to kitties, we will correct them if you have not. If they do not listen to the rules or are too rough with the cats, we will correct them. Kitties do have claws, so we want to ensure their safety as well as the cats.

We have plenty of toys in the lounge to play with cats. Toys need to be played on the cats level, no whipping wands or throwing toys up in the air. We ask that when you are done with them, please don't leave them on the floor where they can be stepped on or more easily broken. If a cat catches a toy, do not pull back on the toy as it could severely injure their paws

11. PROMOTE PAWSITIVITY TO OUR KITTIES

12. PROMOTE PAWSITIVITY TO EACH OTHER

Please be respectful of other guests in the lounge space. Do not steal cats from the other guests and speak respectfully to each other.

13. BE PART OF A HAPPY PACK LIKE A CAT

Our business survives and flourishes when everyone respects each other. Our primary goal here is to find homes for our rescue cats. We will always put the needs of our kitties above anything else. Please listen when a staffer requests something of you, and if you have any questions, please ask.

We ask for you and your little ones to be respectful of our space and our cats. You are our guests, and we ask for you to be considerate. Do not move any decorations or cat furniture/tunnels/hides without permission. Please make sure the space looks like how you came. This makes it a happy safe place to be. Hang coats on the coat rack located in the airlock, put any bags or other items in designated areas. We often see sitting spaces taken up by belongings, and we like to make sure everyone has a place to sit and be comfortable with our kitties.
