Lets open a Cat Cafe!!!!
Suzanne and John are the owners of The Pawsitive Cafe!! Neurodivergent Owned Business
Since she was a little girl Suzanne has been passionate about animals.
When working for and managing a Big Company Pet Store, Suzanne saw the need for a cat cafe. On adoption event days, students would come hang out with the free roaming cats in the adoption room. She knew it was very popular in Japan, and growing in the US. We then went to several cat cafes to see what it was about and if it was the dream she was looking for. Quickly, they both saw how awesome of a concept it was.
With a journey from concept to creation took more than 5 years. Between finding the perfect spot, budgeting, and building the space (also the pandemic didn’t help), we opened our doors June 2022 with our location in the heart of Downtown Rochester. We strive to work with other rescues to give them a spot to help have their cats be seen, and be adopted.
With us both working in the veterinary field and working under a rescue for several years, we were inspired to start a rescue of our own. With our knowledge and vast connections to the veterinary field, we strive to help many homeless cats with various backgrounds. We strive to provide the best care to our rescue cats. That includes senior blood work for seniors, FIV/FLV tests, vaccines, microchipping, blood panels for sick cats, as well as other care needed.
We plan on continuing to grow, creating the Pawsitive place to hang out, and find lots of wonderful kitties homes!
Meet Our Team!
Suzanne
If you enjoy the Pawsitive Cafe, you have Suzanne to thank! It was her great thinking that allowed this idea to exist here in downtown Rochester and fought to make this dream become a reality after four years. She’s happy to see everyone enjoying the cafe and loves to help train our new cats that come in. She enjoys podcasts, specifically about the supernatural and cryptids, classic heavy rock, and is a heavy reptile enthusiast, owning several snakes and geckos!
Johnny
Johnny is the smiling, bearded face that often greets you as you enter the lounge or the cafe. He’s always happy to get you your coffee or answer any questions if you’re looking for your next fur-ever friend, as he is our Adoptions Manager! He is the person responsible for our sweet resident Onyx being at the cafe after he adopted her from an animal hospital. He enjoys video games, punk rock music, and classic board games.
